Paul Anderson was and still is my big brother. He is still missed very much. sometimes I wish I could still speak and tell him my troubles and woes and enjoy a laugh again. He was born in Elsie Ingles Hospital Edinburgh, to his father George and mother Sandra. He has an older sibling Stephen (13 months older) and his wee sister me (Gillian). He is survived by his 2 sons. Jamie and Christopher now 23 and 18. His partner Fiona. He was brought up in the west side of Edinburgh and Gorgie and was a life long Jambo. If you cut him he'd bleed maroon not red. Paul Alexander Anderson was born on July 17, 1968 in Edinburgh.Paul 2nd son to George and Sandra Anderson. Paul joined his older brother, Stephen George Anderson who was born on 13th June 1967. The family lived in Yeaman Place whilst the boys were young, then moved to Hailesland in 1970/71. Paul was a happy child always full of mischief. Whilst being babysat by Auntie Sylvia, while Mum was in hospital and Dad was working night shift. The boys aged 3 or 4 decided to get up in the middle of the night and make their Dad, George a birthday cake. Auntie Sylvia woke up to the kitchen and house being a bomb sight. They had used everything in the kitchen, eggs, flour, milk, cornflakes, jam & oxo cubes. She couldn't be angry with them as they said they were trying to bake a cake for their Dad. She had to restock the fridge and cupboards. Paul was a practical joker and would often play tricks on the family. like celetaping his Dad's glasses when he fell a sleep, He'd wake up to think he had gone blind. This caused a lot of amusement for him and his older brother Stephen. Paul would sometimes get kept in for misbehaving. It didn't stop him going out. When kept in his bedroom, He's climb into the attic and climb down the drain pipe to get out of the 3rd storey flat. This involved a jumb over a gap of a 30ft drop. Luckly his brother and him never fell doing this. Mum and Dad would often be none the wiser, that he had actually gone out for the night with his mates. Paul was given a pet from the school to keep. 'Tickles' the guinea pig. Like most wee pets it didn't have a long life. Paul was devasted when it died. Living in a flat though we didn't have a garden. Mum decided to do the best thing and comforted him and said she's wrap him up in a shoe box and put him in the big wheelie bin. Paul wasn't happy with this and climb into the bin to get him out. He walked all the way to his Auntie Sylvia's at Stenhouse, still crying his eyes out. She had a garden and she agreed 'Tickles' could be buried there. She felt so heartbroken for him, she decided to buy him a budgie 'Joey' as a replacement for the guinea pig. The bird lived for 15 years!! I think he enjoyed the nicotine in the house.
